Judith Younger Hertsens began her professional career
in dance with the San Francisco Ballet Company by the age of 14.
She also graced the stage of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet in New York City.
Judith
performed on Broadway and in musical theater in California, where she and her husband, Marc Hertsens, ran a very successful ballet school.
Judith was the first ballet teacher for Maria Sascha Khan and Nadia Khan and inspired them on the path of a professional career in classical ballet.
Judith commented proudly as recently as this past November,
that Maria Sascha had gone the farthest of any of the students she had taught.
Maria Sascha Khan is currently performing as a professional on European stages.
Judith Younger Hertsens passed away in December 2006 and will be remembered for her many beautiful qualities.
Youth Arts in Action offers the Judith Younger Hertsens Memorial
Scholarship to honor her legacy of giving the joy and beauty of dance to many young people, especially those in a rural area of Montana where she had the resourcefulness to transform an empty room in the back of a restaurant into a magical place
as she introduced young children to the joy of ballet.
Thank you Judith, we are forever grateful!
To be awarded at the Second Annual Fairy Tea for the Arts,
May 6th, 2007
